How does this work?

The four aspects
There are four distinct aspects of dialectical behavior therapy. The first one is individual therapy, where the patient will be working directly with the therapist, while in group sessions, patients are asked to share experiences and learn behavioral skills. Assignments and exercises are also recommended for further help. In many cases, further consultation may be required in dialectical behavior therapy, and in between the varied sessions, the therapist may also offer consultation and coaching on the phone.
Is DBT ideal for my case?
If you are someone who is having a hard time controlling emotions or cannot handle anxiety, stress, and panic situations, DBT may be the ideal solution. Only a trained and experienced therapist will be able to help in such cases, and they will do the required diagnosis to understand if DBT is the ideal treatment for the patient. Any one who is prone to self-injury and suicidal behavior could benefit from DBT, but again, it depends from person to person, and you may need to take a few sessions with the therapist to get a fair idea of your situation. DBT is also recommended for patients who have been overusing mental health services or have been dependent on other therapies for the longest time.
